Asheville Bee Charmer recently welcomed Rosalie Catanoso, Jack Reitz, D.L. Anderson, and Erin Reitz of Our State Magazine to the Hive. During their stay, owners Kim Allen and Jill Kelly delivered a behind-the-scenes peek behind Downtown Asheville’s most buzzworthy honey shop.
Jack and Jill went up a hill, or rather, the side of the mountain to visit our hives and some of our “hardest working employees”, as Jack put it. After suiting up and experiencing beekeeping first-hand, we returned to the shop and discussed the plight of the honeybee and how their critical role in Earth’s ecosystem drives what we do every day.
Of course, we couldn’t say farewell without the sweetest part: tasting the honeys! Kim assumed the role of Bee-rista at the honey bar and shared a collection of fine tasting honeys, ranging from vanilla bean infused honey to international pure honeys. Jack even braved the heat and fearlessly sampled a fiery ghost pepper infused honey.
