So we’ve talking about how good honey tastes, and we’ve talked about how good it is for you, but it can also make you look good too! Honey is moisturizing so it won’t dry out your skin, and instead will leave you with a nice, healthy glow. Because of honey’s anti-bacterial properties, it is a great natural solution for acne treatment and prevention. Honey is also full of anti-oxidants, so it is also a great option for slowing down signs of aging. More than anything, honey is relaxing and will leave your face feeling fresh. We decided to take our local wildflower honey and try and make a few different Honey Face Masks that you can try at home too!
- Simple Honey Face Mask:
Wet face and apply a thin layer of honey to skin. Leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
Results: Unclogged pores and moisturized skin!
- Exfoliating Honey Face Mask & Honey Body Scrub:
Combine two parts honey and one part baking soda, wet face/body, scrub and rinse.
Or
Scrub with an especially crystallized honey (we used an Italian thistle for this one)
Results: Smooth, fresh feeling skin!
- Honey Face Mask / Skin Brightner:
Combine a tablespoon of honey and the juice from ½ a lemon. Wet face, and apply honey face mask. Let soak 15-30 minutes and then wash with warm water.
Results: Clean moisturized skin, but took a few times to notice brightness, just keep at it though!
There are even more natural products you can combine with honey for great skin benefits. Try banana or avocado if you’re looking for extra moisture. Try combining honey with coconut or other natural oils to help remove makeup and cleanse the face. For acne, try combining honey and cinnamon, but use caution because cinnamon can sometime irritate skin.
If you don’t feel like mixing up your own concoctions, we have a great variety of Body Care products here at the Asheville Bee Charmer. We have locally made soaps, all-natural shaving creams and lotions, bath scrubs, lip balm, and so much more! So stop in soon to grab your honey to experiment or to grab yourself a little something to treat your skin.
